Xbox follows Apple to China

Not just a powerful games machine, the Xbox One is designed to sit at the center of your digital home – offering a slick, unified interface for your choice of live TV service alongside music & streaming options, Skype chats, catch-up TV and more.

Today we’re celebrating something just as impressive – Microsoft will be selling the Xbox one in China by September 2014, making it the first game console to provide streaming TV services in China, and the first video game console to launch there in over a decade due to the ban on Western console systems.

There are 100 million ‘middle class’ households in China and 700 million play games on Tencent’s QQ network, and Chinese gamers spent $12.3 billion on games in 2013. That’s definitely a large market for Microsoft to target.
